Meghan Markle and Prince Harry make headlines all over the world Everytime they cough. Doesn’t matter whether it’s through a statement on their website or a video call, but the moment there is a word from them, headlines are made worldwide. When they tied the knot in May 2018, it was no surprise to see the world being so fascinated with them : the two are clearly very much in love and 3years and so later the world has not had enough of them, their fascination has even escalated. Thay are enigmatic indeed.
But before the big engagement announcement 4 years back, you could tell they really cared about each other by how they barely said anything about their relationship. Remember when Meghan Markle was being bullied by the press and the paparazzi shortly after rumors began to fly that she was dating the beloved royal? Prince Harry, the chivalrous gentleman that he is, issued a rare statement from the palace as a warning to anyone harassing her or her family. He refused to delve into personal details too soon, and instead focused all his time and energy on protecting his lady and her privacy. Princess Diana was proud up there.
Similarly, Meghan Markle kept her lips mostly zipped about her relationship, and refused to read any negative news or criticism from naysayers, focusing instead on nurturing their relationship. Instead of entertaining any criticism, they put all their energy into letting their love flourish and grow into something truly magical. And considering how beautiful their marriage has been so far, it seems like all that hard work sure paid off!
Admittedly, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry haven’t revealed too many intense secrets about their love connection yet, but what they have said speaks volumes about how much they cherish each other. From Prince Harry reminiscing about the first time he met his now-wife to Meghan getting adorably thrilled about her now-husband’s romantic proposal, these quotes could warm anyone’s heart on even the coldest day. I am more than happy to hear more — whenever they’re ready to say it, of course.

Prince Harry and Meghan have joined the World Health Organization (WHO) and Save the Children in appealing to G20 leaders meeting this weekend to honour promises to send Covid-19 vaccines to low-income countries where just 3% of people have had a jab.
In a two-page letter, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the WHO director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Save the Children International CEO, Inger Ashing, and representatives of other health charities called for the world’s wealthiest countries to accelerate long-promised donations and break the hold pharmaceutical companies have over access to vaccines. The issue was being discussed at a G20 health ministers meeting in Rome where it was agreed to try to vaccinate 70% of all populations by mid-2022.
But the letter urges greater ambition, pointing out that “among countries represented at the G20, there are a handful with millions of surplus vaccines that are destined to be wasted once they expire,” the letter said.
“Every discarded dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, when there are the mechanisms to donate them, should outrage us all. Each dose represents a real person – a mother, father, daughter, or son – who could have been protected.”
They said 7bn doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered globally with some people now receiving three vaccines, but Covax – the initiative designed to help fairly achieve global access to vaccines – had only received 11.5% of the promised 1.3bn doses.
Global targets have been set to vaccinate 40% of the population of every country by the end of 2021 and 70% by mid-2022. It is expected that the G20 leaders’ summit in Rome this weekend will see that target brought forward, but previously some European powers have not met their vaccine pledges.
“By delivering already-pledged doses, helping countries manufacture their own vaccines, and prioritising vaccines for nations in need, the G20 can help ensure the world delivers on these promises,” said the letter that was also signed by the Vaccine Alliance, UNAIDS, Clinton Foundation, Global Citizen and the Rockefeller Foundation.
“We can’t simply hope for the pandemic to end on its own. As the virus progresses through unvaccinated populations, we risk new and more deadly strains sweeping the planet.”
The letter also calls for the G20 to immediately close a 550m-dose gap to accelerate towards WHO’s 40% coverage target by the end of 2021, by speeding up existing commitments of donations to Covax, pledging new ones, executing swaps with Covax, and eliminating export restrictions on vaccines.
Meghan phone call to Hubb community kitchen in west London praises ‘incredible’ work.
The Duchess of Sussex has praised the “incredible” achievements of the women who created the Hubb community kitchen in west London following the Grenfell fire disaster.
In a phone call from her California home on Wednesday, Meghan Markle chatted to women gathered for a celebratory lunch at the Al-Manaar centre in north Kensington, not far from the tower.
Meghan Markle wrote the foreword for the Hubb’s Together cookbook, which was published to raise funds for a renovation of the kitchen that provided meals for bereaved and homeless local people after the June 2017 tragedy, which claimed 72 lives.
In her call, she said: “We founded Hubb together and I think what I’m most proud of is what you’ve all been able to do, not just what we created to meet an immediate need right after the fire.
“If you go back to where it all began you just didn’t have a place to cook and people forget that’s what it came down to, needing the resources to do what you do so well — as we all know because we can taste it. But also to do it together and how…the cookbook ended up having the impact we wanted because it raised enough to get you all the help in the kitchen you needed.”
The duchess, who has made a series of visits to the community kitchen, added: “But beyond that, what you turned it into as a group and individually is incredible, you’ve just continued to take care of everyone in the community. If you think how many thousands of people have been affected by your recipes and by your love and what you’ve done to take care of frontline workers and families during Covid and children and after school groups and women in hospital and new mums…”
The women continue to cook and provide for their community via varied projects and initiatives to benefit the homeless, refugees, women fleeing violence, families in need, new mothers, isolated and elderly women, frontline health workers and rehabilitated ex-offenders.
One of the Hubb volunteers, Chérine Mallah, told the Standard: “It was lovely to have our work celebrated by Meghan. We were really happy to hear from the duchess. It was just incredible. It really encourages us to continue in what we have been doing and makes us feel quite proud of the work we have done and the projects we have been running.
“It is quite impressive really to have the support from Meghan. For us, it is just our normal lives. It is massive for us. The next days of our lives are just the same but we know that someone as famous as Meghan is backing us. It is really lovely.”
Another volunteer Oxana Sinitsyna added: “To hear what Meghan says about Hubb Kitchen, it makes us feel like we are doing the right thing.”
The Hubb has been supported by The Felix Project, the Standard’s charity partner.
Since 2019 the food redistribution charity has made deliveries to provide tens of thousands of meals.
